Canada Day is just around the corner and Wellington West is going to bring it like it’s 1867!
Lots of local businesses are still open on Canada Day so never fear, there will not be a shortage of things to do in the ‘hood. From A Thing for Chocolate with their out of this world crepes and to die for speciality chocolates, to Bread By Us with their baked goods with a conscience, there’s lots to explore in Wellington West this July 1.

If craft beer is your thing – Wellington West is the place to be this Canada Day! The Brewery Market is back featuring some spectacular local suds. Grab the family and head down to Hintonburg Park where it’s all taking place. Hintonburg Park is a grassy oasis - bring a blanket, or your lawn chairs and kick-back for the afternoon. Be sure to bring the whole family! Hintonburg Park features a kick-ass splash pad and playground for kids to enjoy while you have a cold one !

Yoga on Tap will be there at 11 am! As always, this event is FREE, all-ages and runs rain or shine. Proceeds to benefit the Parkdale Food Centre. Limited capacity, so come early!
But that’s not all! There’s also a craft beer pub crawl happening in Wellington West on Canada Day – and you can be part of it! Five great pub/breweries are participating including: Hintonburg Public House, Ministry of Coffee, Vimy Brewing, Tooth and Nail and the Royal Oak on Wellington St. West! They’ve got many local craft brews on tap if you’d like to take a break from the mid-day sun, and the crawl will be happening all day – rain or shine.
The splash pads at Fisher Park, LaRoche Park, Plant Bath are open, as are the wading pools at Parkdale Park and Reid Park. Or just get together with your neighbours for a backyard BBQ and pick up some great shish kebabs and tzatziki from Sasloves or sausages from the Hintonburg Market, or some old fashioned hot dogs and buns from Giant Tiger's upstairs grocery store, and enjoy!
If you're awake at 11 pm for the fireworks, the Ottawa River Parkway multi-use pathways will have views of what's set to be an amazing show!
If you’re still up for a late night party – grab your dancing shoes and head to the Carleton Tavern where Rocket Rached and the Fat City 8 will be playing their brand of hard core bluesy goodness. A perfect way to wrap up your celebration of Canada’s sesquicentennial!
