The neighbourhood tutoring centre ramps up for the fall with their math-oriented summer camps

Math camp might not be your child’s first choice for how they’d like to spend their summer vacation, and the team at Hintonburg’s Mathnasium of Carlington tutoring centre want to change that. “Kids don’t hate math, they just hate being confused and intimidated by math,” says the centre’s Director, Ola Shuman.

Located in the heart of Hintonburg, Mathnasium of Carlington offers year-round math tutoring services for students from grades 1-12. Using customized, comprehensive assessments and approachable, innovative lesson plans, the Mathnasium team identifies learning gaps while solidifying children’s fundamental math knowledge. The centre’s highly-trained instructors aim to boost children’s confidence through innovative and engaging learning experiences.

When visiting the centre, Ola introduced us to her team of tutors, all of whom were interested in pursuing teaching after their post-secondary education. They boasted Mathnasium as an opportunity equally as fulfilling for tutors as students. Caring instructors are a key component to Mathnasium’s method. That, and they don’t assign homework!

The centre has been holding its Camp Mathnasium program throughout July and August, wherein children in grades 2-8 play fun, group-learning games, explore STEM-related activities and more! The summer lesson plans inspire children to be curious about math, and keep them keen on starting the incoming school year.
