Book Launch at The Spaniel’s Tale – Aaron Kreuter, Manahil Bandukwala, Jeff Blackman

Join poets Aaron Kreuter, Manahil Bandukwala, and Jeff Blackman for an evening of poetry and discussion to celebrate the launch of Aaron’s new book, Rubble Children.

In seven and a half interlinked stories, Aaron Kreuter’s Rubble Children tackles Jewish belonging, settler colonialism, Zionism and anti-Zionism, love requited and unrequited, and cannabis culture, all drenched in suburban wonder and dread. Sometimes realist, sometimes not, the book revolves around Kol B’Seder, a fictional Reform synagogue in the Toronto suburb of Thornhill.

Aaron Kreuter is the author of four books, including the 2022 Governor General’s Literary Award shortlisted poetry collection Shifting Baseline Syndrome. He lives in Toronto and teaches at Trent University.

Manahil Bandukwala is a writer and visual artist based in Mississauga and Ottawa, Ontario. She is the author of Heliotropia (2024) and MONUMENT (2022), which was shortlisted for the 2023 Gerald Lampert Award, and was selected as a Writer’s Trust of Canada Rising Star in 2023.

This is a free event, however, RSVPs are appreciated. Doors open at 6:30pm, event begins at 7:00pm.
