Owners Virginia and James Vince are passionate about making flowers, plants and organic design an essential part of everyone’s everyday experience. Stepping into a Bloomfields shop feels like entering a gorgeous home that’s been taken over by a master gardener. There’s an intoxicating scent of fresh blossoms as well as masses of greenery and an impressive selection of lifestyle and home décor items. “In addition to sourcing the best flowers and plants, we also spend a lot of time travelling and seeking out very unique giftware,” says Virginia. “Customers radiate joy when visiting our shop and they are delighted to bring elements of Bloomfields into their own homes.”

The twenty year old company opened its second Ottawa location on Wellington West in 2016. Virginia explains that they were drawn to the area’s thriving retail scene and strong sense of community, with so many shops offering beautiful, locally sourced product and talent. “There is a real pulse of creativity in the neighbourhood that connects with what we’re all about.”

The quality of Bloomfield’s products is matched by the calibre of its staff, all of whom share the owners’ passion for Beautiful Living Naturally. “We are known for our gorgeous floral design work, and for offering great, highly personalized service. That plus our attention to detail makes all the difference in delivering an experience that’s second to none.”

During the growing season, Sandyhill, the family flower farm, provides a beautiful bounty of heirloom blooms, greenery and branches that find their way into weekly farm bunch subscriptions, hand-tied bouquets, table arrangements and more.

“We are very lucky to have family members, local farm hands and, this year, our Ottawa team of talented staff working on the farm during the summer months,” notes Virginia. “We feel so proud that our flowers can go from the farm to the shop to your table all in the same day. It’s really like having a beautiful, maintenance-free flower garden right in your own backyard.”
