FIND a new Wellington Village business with deep roots

DioGuardi Law occupies the space near the corner of Wellington West and Huron Avenue that was once home to Philip’s Smoke Shop, run by Brigitte’s grandfather back in the 1950s. Known for its friendly service, the smoke shop was just a small business, says Paul, but his father earned enough to put him through law school and he put Paul`s sister through medical school as well.

Brigitte notes that their practice offers a boutique selection of legal services. Many local residents are remarking how much they appreciate having professionals they can walk to in the community.

Having crafted a welcoming, drop-in-when-needed atmosphere, the DioGuardi’s specialize in tax law. Theirs is a one stop shop for addressing any tax problems, including if you have not filed for many years, owe a large tax bill, if you’re being audited by the Canada Revenue Agency, if you want assistance preparing a tax objection or need help with voluntary disclosures.

“While we do serve the community in other areas such as drafting wills and powers of attorney as well as completing real estate transactions and undertaking corporate work, our number one focus is on helping people deal with their CRA tax issues,” says Brigitte.

Although DioGuardi Law does not prepare income tax returns, they have teamed up with a tax consultant who meets with clients in their Wellington West office and then prepares the returns. “We also deal with other consultants such as a retired insolvency trustee who helps us when planning for proposals or bankruptcies,” she adds. “The idea is to provide access to all of these services under one roof by offering help from complementary professionals.”

As owners of the building that houses their firm as well as Wild Willy’s Flowers & Plants next door, the DioGuardi’s are delighted to be honouring their roots by playing a role in the 100th anniversary celebrations of Wellington Village. They eagerly await the installation of a commemorative artwork outside their firm, to be unveiled in late June.
