Hintonburg Place Plaza Project – construction is finally underway!
Well, it’s been almost three years of planning, grant applications, design work with our partners at Ottawa Community Housing, and consultation, but the Hintonburg Place Plaza project is finally starting to take shape at the corner of Wellington Street West and Parkdale Avenue!
If you’re not familiar with the project, last summer we published this explainer page with a timeline going back to late 2017.
You’ll see that we had originally hoped to wrap up construction this spring, but, well, COVID. So instead, we’ve been quietly working away with OCH, watching the giant steel letter forms take shape while we waited to be able to move ahead. As you’ll see from the photos below, the subsurface foundations are in place, the tree wells have been dug out, and now the surface pavers are being laid. Within a few days, the huge letters will be installed, and the finishing touches should be complete by late September – and ready for a socially-distanced ribbon cutting some time in October!
