February marks the start of Heart Month! To celebrate, we have some fantastic things lined up for Wellington West.

On February 1st, we will be unveiling a heart-shaped display provided by the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. This display will serve as a reminder to our community to be heart-healthy and stay active. The statue will also provide an avenue for individuals to donate and raise money to the Heart Institute, but the fun doesn’t end there…

When you are on your daily walk, run, or bike down Wellington Street West, you will notice something unique this February! Wellington West BIA has partnered with a Montreal based company, Creos, to bring you “Mi Casa, Your Casa 2.0.” (Mi Casa) an interactive light display.

After years of pandemic closures and empty streets, these cute little houses are welcoming you back home to Wellington West. Stepping into the display, you will be bathed with a warm light that gradually increases to full brightness. To contribute to the theme of heart heath, swings have been added to the installations to provide active fun for all ages to enjoy. Because after all, home is where the HEART is.

We are very proud to announce that this is first time the Mi Casa installations have seen the streets of Ottawa! All eight installations can be seen on Wellington St W. Three will be found alongside the Ottawa Heart Institute display at 1140 Wellington Street West. The other five are on separate points along the sidewalk. Take a stroll down the stretch and give ’em a swing!

Installation begins Friday, January 27 and continues on until Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday, February 1st, these displays will be ready for the public. Be sure to come at 5:00pm for the official Heart Month launch ceremony with the ribbon cutting at 5:40pm. Grab a cup of hot chocolate on us and be among the first to enjoy the displays!
