International travel writers visit Wellington West
By BIA Admin on Aug 14, 2019 in Uncategorized.
On August 12th Wellington West hosted groups of international travel writers, journalists, and bloggers as part of Ottawa Tourism’s GoMedia Canada 2019 conference. This event is held each year in a different Canadian city. This year Ottawa welcomed writers from Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The Wellington West BIA led two groups of GoMedia participants on walking tours of Hintonburg and Wellington Village, including stops at the shops, street side landmarks, and Parkdale Market.
At least four of the authors were delighted to find their own books on the shelves at World of Maps in Wellington Village – including UK writer Sarah Baxter, posing here for a photo with World of Maps co-owner Petra Thoms. Turns out Baxter’s book A History of the World in 500 Walks is one of the books Thoms most admires and recommends to customers, particularly around the holiday gift season. You can find it there yourself at 1187 Wellington Street West.
