Local Shops for Fall Fresh Produce
The leaves are shifting shades, and seasonal produce is echoing its colours on the shelves.
Here are a few local shops in the neighbourhood that are loaded with your favourite fall veggies, fruits and more:
The Herb and Spice Shop is featuring barrels full of Halls Orchard Apples. They’re juicy, fresh and ready for enjoying simply as is, or baking your decadent apple pies, tarts and crumbles.
Did you know….The Hintonburg Marché carries between five and six different varieties of scrumptious Quebec apples? How about discovering five different variations of local squash? Pop in and find out which ones you haven’t tried yet!
Parkdale Food Market of course has loads of gourds to choose from including local pumpkins and squash- but don’t forget to check out some of their colourful root veggies such as rainbow carrots and hearty parsnips while you’re perusing from vendor to vendor.
Nu Grocery has partnered with Bluegrass Farms Fall Greens CSA program, featuring ten weekly baskets of fresh greens from mid-October to mid-December. Nu Grocery will be a pick up location for this program beginning the week of October 15th. Find out more here.
Metro is loaded with pumpkins, and not just traditional orange ones; check out their white (ghost) pumpkins and funky blue ones too!
