Parkdale Market

A message from Ottawa Markets:

Ottawa Markets reopens Parkdale Outdoor Markets on Thursday, June 18

Dear valued customers,

Ottawa Markets is excited to announce the launch of the outdoor market for the 2020 season at Parkdale Market.

Produce vendors will be set-up for the opening of a physically-distant version of Parkdale Market, Thursday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting Thursday, June 18.

With the gradual reopening of both outdoor markets, participating vendors starting next week include Rochon Gardens, Ferme Rêveuse, Richard Cléroux and Denise Cléroux, with more vendors returning in the coming weeks as local crops become available.

As a value-added feature for market vendors, both the Parkdale and ByWard outdoor markets will be complemented by the continuation of the successful Ottawa Markets’ online marketplace for residents: ottawamarkets.ca/online-store with pick-up at both Parkdale Market (Thursday) and ByWard Market (Saturday).

FAQ

Do I need to book a time slot to attend the market?
No. The markets will be re-opening for in-person shopping, the same way you can go shopping anytime at the grocery store or the pharmacy. Please note, that like many places in our new reality, you may have to wait in line to ensure that physical distancing can be maintained at all times.

Do I need to order online?
No. Simply come on down to the market! If you would like to continue placing your orders online, you can visit ottawamarkets.ca for a listing of vendors who offer online ordering. Please note that some vendors only sell online while others will only sell in-person at the market.

When will the markets open?
The markets will open the week of June 15th, with vendors ready to start accepting their first customers on Thursday, June 18th at 9:00 am. Both the ByWard and the Parkdale Market will be open Thursday to Sunday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Will all of my favourite vendors be there?
While many of our vendors are eager and ready to return, not all will be in place right away. Each vendor needs to prepare for the market re-opening and this may take more time for some than others. Moreover, the market will be starting with vendors that primarily sell food, with additional artisan vendors being added gradually.

What health measures will be in place?
Physical distancing and proper hand hygiene are the most important protective measures against the spread of COVID-19. While attending the market, we ask customers to:

  • Remain 2 metres apart at all times
  • Wash or sanitize your hands before entering the market and upon exiting, using the stations provided
  • Only one person per household should attend the market, when possible
  • If you are sick, have symptoms, have been in contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19, or have left Canada in the last 14 days, you should stay home and self-isolate

We look forward to welcoming you at both ByWard and Parkdale outdoor markets soon!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send an email to Ottawa Markets: info@ottawamarkets.ca

Take care,
The Ottawa Markets Team
