Sharing Success: 2022 TASTE Season Roundup

Thank you for making our annual merchant fundraiser for Parkdale Food Centre our biggest and most impactful edition yet!

We did it! We raised over $15,000 for the Parkdale Food Centre!

Congratulations to the member merchants of Hintonburg and Wellington Village and our community for fundraising to respond food insecurity in our city. We’re moved by the creative action taken to support our neighbours near and far while advocating for the right to food.

Starting off with our TASTE of Wellington West festival, we thank over 45 restaurants and member merchants for taking part by offering food samples—ranging from small pastries to edible flowers and sliders. At the festival, we counted over 60 displays, including sidewalk sales and special activities hosted by businesses and local organizations, as well as more than two dozen performers in six BIA performance spaces, along with the GT Express Kid Zone in Parkdale Park.

We were honoured to celebrate the inaugural Right To Food Day in Parkdale Park with the Parkdale Food Centre team and Lynn Miles. The neighbourhood coming together to appreciate good company and good food helped to skyrocket our fundraising efforts over our initial $10,000 seasonal goal.

This year’s exceptional seasonal programming was made possible by our sponsors, whose contributions tripled our event funding. We extend enormous gratitude to our presenting sponsor, Mann Lawyers, our major sponsors Domicile, Sutton Group, Wellington West Retirement Community, GT Xpress, and our supporting sponsors Edible Ottawa, PhysiocareOttawa Bagel Shop and DeliThe Cat’s Meow HairSharpfle Waffle and Urban Art Collective!

Throughout TASTE season, we also hosted our annual TASTE of Wellington West Awards – presented by the Wellington West Retirement Community. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees! A special thanks as well to Rogers TV host and local foodie Paula Roy for producing this year’s Foodie Features and highlighting our food merchants and restaurants doing what they do best!

We’re riding the momentum from TASTE season onto the next: GIVING season begins November 1! Stay tuned updates on neighbourhood happenings, seasonal programming and ways to support local throughout November and December!
