She is the founder and director of 8thGeneration Storytelling Company, Co-owner and Creative Director of The Origin Arts and Community Centre…AND a huge fan of Wellington West and the merchants in her community. Here are a few of her favourite spots:
A magical gem is the GCTC. Where else can you find such thriving, multi-cultural and leading-edge theatre but right here on the corner of Wellington St. W and Holland Ave. Catch our next Origin Kitchen Concert on April 30 and Speaking Vibrations from May 24-June 4, 2022.
One of the best coffee hubs for me and the best oat milk dirty chai latte in town! I love the space and the people that make it a thriving community. The Happy Goat for me has a lovely and magical ambiance that makes everyone feel warm, welcome and at home.
Best brunch, best dinners, best patio, best place to hang out. You can usually catch me there on the weekends for brunch or dinner with friends or sitting with my notepad, writing or sketching. Their menu is simple and tasty with something for everyone and the place has a great vibe for connecting with neighbours and friends.
I absolutely adore the fact that we have a 365-day Christmas store in our neighborhood, where else in Ottawa has that! It is so magical. No matter what time of the year the owner, Audi, greets you with a warm welcome. And if he has time he might share with you the story on how the Christmas store came to be!
As an immigrant myself I know how hard it can be to find yourself in a new country, to rediscover yourself as well as stay true to your roots and culture. OCISO helped me over the years to navigate the challenges of being new to Canada. I am so grateful for all they do for the community.
