Good thing, since it’s almost a full time job for this local celebrity, who hosts Paula Roy’s Favourite Foods on Rogers Television, serves as food editor of Ottawa At Home magazine and is a professional recipe developer who offers up some of her tasty recipes at constantlycooking.com

“I love being able to work my way through Wellington West to gather top-quality ingredients,” says Paula. “At this time of year, a warming dish like my hearty lamb stew really hits the spot.”

Wellington Butchery: “My first stop would be the Wellington Butchery, for a nice cut of boneless lamb. I really appreciate the excellent products and expert service here and love being able to call ahead and pre-order if I’m in a rush.”

Herb and Spice: “Fresh vegetables and herbs are a staple of most of my meals and the Herb and Spice has been my go-to for decades, thanks to a great selection of conventional and organic produce.”

The Wine Rack: “This stew’s flavour is enhanced with a generous amount of robust red wine and I can always count on the friendly people at the Wine Rack to help me find something suitable to cook with.”

Marche Hintonburg Market: “I am a huge fan of the deli counter at the Hintonburg Marche and their double-smoked bacon – an essential ingredient in my lamb stew – is a particular favourite.”

Bread By Us: “Like most great stews, this one is best enjoyed with thick slices of crusty bread. A sourdough loaf, baked with love by the good folks at Bread By Us, is the perfect accompaniment.”

Stella Luna: “A container or two of Stella Luna Gelato rounds out my menu quite often – it’s the perfect accompaniment to my homemade desserts and I can count on the team there to help me come up with the perfect flavour pairings.”
