Michèle Castonguay has been exciting National Capital music lovers for quite a while, with her trenchant interpretations of classic songs by the likes of Cole Porter and Richard Rodgers. Since arriving in Ottawa a few years ago, Samantha Christ François, originally from Haiti, has wowed audiences with her multi-national/multilingual repertoire. Ron Ferguson captivates with his eloquent solos on trumpet. Karl Nerenberg is a filmmaker and writer who has moonlighted as a jazz pianist for decades and loves turning people on to the music he loves. Neil Sealy, on bass, has an unerring ear and has played at many of Ottawa’s music venues, starting out, decades ago, at the Chateau Laurier. Donovan Allen does more than keep time; he plays his drums with brio. Alex Eloise, on guitar, blends a Caribbean sensibility with a deep appreciation of the jazz tradition.
