WelliWednesday – June 29th: Rubber Roses and Chris White

The weekly, free, hyper-local concert series spotlights folk singing and picking trio Rubber Roses and local folk legend Chris White!

Brought to you by the Friends of Parkdale Market, the Wellington West Improvement Area and Wellington West businesses, the June 29th lineup of WelliWednesday features a range of talents (and ages!) taking Parkdale Park’s Pat MacLeod Community Stage from 5:00pm-9:00pm next week.


WelliWednesday Details:

  • Date: Wednesday June 29th, 2022 from 5:00pm-9:00pm
  • Location: Parkdale Park, 366 Parkdale Avenue – Pat MacLeod Community Stage
  • Who: Local musicians from the neighbourhood, including singer-songwriter Chris White at 5:30pm and up-and-coming folk singing trio Rubber Roses at 7:00pm

5:30pm – Chris White

Local folk singer-songwriter Chris White writes and performs songs that are sometimes humorous, sometimes touching, always engaging.  He has released three albums of original songs: I’m a Poet… and I’m Aware of ItInner Voice, and; Music All Around. Chris has led singing, song writing and performance workshops in elementary schools, secondary schools, colleges, camps and conferences.

Chris co-founded the Ottawa Folk Festival in 1993 and served as Artistic Director for 16 years.  In that role, he created numerous opportunities for attendees to become actively involved with music through participatory choirs, ukulele-building workshops and musical instrument “petting zoos.”  

Chris produces and hosts Canadian Spaces, Canada’s longest-running folk music radio show on CKCU FM.

An active member of local, regional and national music communities, Chris is a founding board member of Home Routes, an organization that presents concerts across Canada.  He has designed large-scale musical events for many organizations, including the National Arts Centre, the Canadian Union of Public Employees and Public Services International.
