WOW6: Blues & Soul Ensemble Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar Take Parkdale Park
The Juno-nominated band rocked Parkdale Park with their electric WelliWOW performance!
John Thompson, owner of The Record Centre, promised that Toronto blues and soul outfit Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar would bring the house down when we booked them for our most recent WelliWOW. And boy, did they deliver! It takes major chops, not only to get a crowd out despite a rainstorm, but to be fabulous sports about it, too!
On their way to headline the Montreal Jazz Festival, Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar made a special stop in Hintonburg to present a free, all-ages concert while visiting their pal John just down the street. The nine-piece band delivered with might and grace on our modest stage, transforming the park into a grand music hall for one-night only.
Not only does the group sound spectacular, but they know how to turn the party with such presence! Samantha Martin, gold cowboy boots and all, got down under an umbrella and in with the crowd to show her appreciation for folks sticking it out in the downpour. Now that’s how live music is done – rain or shine!
